Home >> Interior Decorating >>Malachite >>> MALACHITEMalachite is particularly eye-catching and used on smaller articles, such as picture and mirror frames and inlay on furniture and small object dart. The technique can be surprisingly simple and extremely effective. You will need: BLUE/GREEN BASECOAT VARNISHING WAX POLYVINE LACQUER CLASSIC COLOR BURNT UMBER AND EMERALD COLORISERS
Tools: 4 POLYVINE STIPPLER MEDIUM SYNTHETIC BRUSH STIFF CARD (BUSINESS CARD IDEAL) WET AND DRY PAPER(An abrasive paper which can be used dry or wet for fine finish work.) 1 Apply basecoat and allow to dry and apply a coat of lacquer. Cut back with wet and dry paper until smooth. Take a bowl, pour in equal parts of Varnishing Wax and Classic Color. Then add the Emerald Coloriser and Burnt Umber until the mixture is deep green. 2 Randomly daub the color on to the basecoat with a synthetic brush. 3 Use your 4 Polyvine Stippler to blend these colors, maintaining darker and lighter areas. 4 Fold a small stiff card in half and tear along the told. Using the torn straight edge, pull through the wet glaze in small arcs producing a typical Malachite structure. Protect when dry with three coats of Lacquer; cut back with wet and dry paper and polish to a sheen.
