Dealing with colors
-
None of my color scheme goes together
-
Choice of colors is a personal thing and what one person loves another will
hate. Strong colors are more difficult to blend together than pastel ones.
-
Paint changed color half-way through the job
-
This is caused by failure to stir the paint thoroughly, especially with strong
colors and liquid eggshells.
-
I mixed up my own color but didn't have enough to finish the job and now
I can't find mix the same shade again
-
Always mix more than enough for the job in hand as you would need a computer
to get the exact shade again. If you get fairly close with your second mix
then do a complete wall or section with it and it probably won't be noticed.
Remember that the paint you are mixing will look slightly different when
dry.
-
Wallpaper seems to be different shades.
-
If all your rolls of wallpaper don't have exactly the same batch code number
on them then there may possibly be slight differences of shade as they will
have been printed at different times. Always check the batch numbers before you buy.
-
I have plain wallpaper but the joints don't match.
-
It sometimes happens with wallpapers of a solid color that the color may be slightly heavier on one side than the other. This is not usually noticed just by looking at an open roll of paper. It is only when it is put onto the wall and dries, that this becomes apparent. On solid color wallpapers (i.e. no pattern, just a color) a professional wallpaper hanger will reverse alternate lengths so that any discrepancy in color is unnoticeable.
