Painting a Floor
Painting Floors.
-
Before you begin make sure the floor is completely clear as it is best to
finish the job in one operation.
-
Vacuum if possible to ensure the floor is dust free.
-
Start in one corner furtherest away from the door, cutting in carefully to
the skirting board or wall.
-
Work systematically across the room doing about a two foot square at a time
-
Work your way gradually to the entrance and don't get yourself trapped in
a corner!
-
If you are painting or varnishing floorboards then do 1 or 2 boards at a
time the whole length of the room.
-
If you want to roll the floor, paint a strip about a foot, all around, out
from the skirting or wall, remembering to leave your exit clear.
-
When rolling, take care not to get paint on the skirtings or walls; roll
along in the direction of the walls rather than towards them.
-
Large and/or coarse floors such as garages and outhouses can be painted using
a sweeping-brush, cutting in firstly as with the rolling.
