Around door frames
Papering around a door frame.
Step-by-step.
-
The length before you reach the door frame should be hung as normal; hang
the next length letting it overlap the frame and
door.
-
Cut off the excess, still leaving at least an inch overlap around the edge
of the frame.
-
Press your thumb on the paper so that the corner of the frame is
visible.
-
Make a diagonal cut with your scissors into the mark.
-
If you have a large overlap then cut off most of the excess, leaving a two
or three inch overlap to work with.
-
Smooth the paper into the side of the frame and then over the top of the
door.
-
Drop the bottom fold loosely over the skirting board.
-
Trim off the overlap and brush back into position around the
frame.
-
Press into the skirting and trim off.
-
If necessary you can mark the paper with a pencil before trimming.
-
Often there is a light switch near a door frame; cut
and fit around the switch before you fit against the frame.
-
It is a good idea to paper first the side of the frame which has a switch
or other obstruction near it.
-
Depending on the wallpaper (not one with a large pattern) you may be able
to hang full lengths down each side of the frame and then patch in the
intervening piece.
