Paperhanging Tools
Here is list of the basic tools you need for wallpapering but you can manage
with less if you haven't got them all.

Scissors. Long bladed (shears) for trimming and various cutting jobs.

Paste brush. A 6" wide distemper type brush is
best.

Bucket (2). For mixing and holding the paste. Approx. 10 litre bucket
is ideal.

Paperhanging Brush.To smooth out the paper when fixing to wall surface.

Measuring Tape. A retractable metal tape is usually the easiest to
work with.

Plumb (Line) Bob. A weight attached to a string to set vertical
lines.

1 metre Spirit Level. Can be used in conjuction with or instead of
the plumb line.

Seam Roller. A small wooden or plastic roller about 1½ inches
wide to flatten the joints. It is possible to get stainless steel ones.

Smoothing Roller. For more delicate types of paper.

Papering table. For cutting and pasting the paper on.

Pencil. For marking walls and paper for trimming. STRICTLY no biros
or felts.

Bucket of clean water and sponge. To remove paste from surface of
paper.

Craft Knife. Excellent for trimming paper in awkward places and better
than scissors on vinyls.

Blunt knife or scraper. To crease the paper correctly before trimming.

Casing wheel. Experience is needed to use a casing wheel or casing
blade well.

Clean sponge. Keep with bucket of clean water to wipe surplus paste
from the front of the wallpaper.
It is not advisable to try and use a casing wheel until you have seen one
used by someone experienced.
