Scaffolding needed for wallpapering

  • Step ladder. For a normal height wall a short step-ladder is usually the easiest to work with.

Allow plenty of room for the length of wallpaper to drop down the face of the wall.
  • Short ladder if you are going to work on staircase
  • Two scaffolding boards, one long, one short, if you are working on a stairwell.
  • Trestles needed if you are doing ceilings.
  • Wide scaffolding boards (formerly called Longmans) for doing ceilings if you are unsure about walking along a normal width scaffolding board(about nine inches). Remember you must have a complete run across the length or width of the room before you attempt to stick a length of ceiling paper.
  • Hop-up; this is a strong box or step-up by which you can reach the required height. The convenience of a hop-up is that you can move it with your foot when both hands are occupied.
This can be an old but sturdy plastic milk crate. You can now purchase plastic hop-ups imitating the milk crate style.Bozzle.com image:hop-up or work platform

Keep safety in mind at all times when wallpapering.
Remember that hanging wallpaper takes both hands even when you are up a ladder or on a scaffolding plank.
Make sure there is no movement in any of the scaffolding that you use.
Indoors there should be no need to tie scaffolding and ladders to secure points as is often necessary outdoors.
