Colors and Patterns
-
When buying wallpapers it is important to note that wallpapers are printed
in batches and each batch has its own code number printed on the label.
-
It is essential that you get all the rolls you require with the same code
number as different batches may vary slightly in colour and
shading.
-
Because two rolls look the same when you compare them against each other,
it doesn't follow that they will look the same on the wall.
-
Get all the rolls you need on your first visit to the store as there is no
guarantee that you will find that extra roll you need a few days later.
-
Keep at least one label safe in case you do run short of paper and take it
with you to the store and hopefully find another roll in the same batch.
-
It is a good idea to open each roll before you begin and check each one (about
the first 24" of each roll) for color match and pattern mismatching. Replacements
will always be given for a defective roll providing you haven't used it.
-
Labels often contain the warning to check rolls for defects before hanging.
This warning however does not affect your Statutory Rights.
-
Papers that have a solid color with no pattern (especially those from medium
to pale shades) may have fractionally more color on one side. This is not
visible to the naked eye when you inspect the rolls but when the paper is
fixed and dry each length is visible when you walk into the room.
-
The solution is simple. Reverse alternate lengths before fixing and any color
differences will not show.
